Research demonstrates that Guided Imagery (or visualisation) is helpful for sleep and specifically for sleep quality. It has also been proven to reduce anxiety and is clinically recommended in NHS Insomnia Services.

The audios below have been designed by Dr Michelle as templates to help you familiarise yourself with this practice. The most effective approach is to create your own personal destination in your mind - somewhere with happy, comforting, peaceful associations, such as a favourite holiday spot or a beach.

As you practise, I encourage you to move through your five senses - what can you see, hear, smell, touch, taste? This helps transport you fully to that place and provides a natural focus for the mind, reducing the racing thoughts that can keep you awake at night.
